Funny Moments of the Week

A couple of evenings ago, we were getting ready to go out to our friends’ house.  We were all in the entrance and Jared was getting his shoes on.  Kiera was standing right beside him and said, “Ba-bye you cock.”  We both burst out laughing and were like, “WHAT?!  Did we just hear what we thought we heard?”  The last part, she kind of trailed off, so it was obvious she was just babbling and had no idea what that actually means.  Then, we were at our friends’ and she had a fork in her hand.  She kept saying the word, “fork,” except she doesn’t say her “r’s,” so it sounded more like a different word.  Thankfully, she doesn’t have any idea what that one means either, so in that situation it was kind of funny!  Lately, she’s also been obsessed with boobs (like whenever she sees Jared bareback or a picture of a baby in a diaper), so when she was wearing a dress the other day, she just couldn’t resist lifting it up.  She’s such an interesting and entertaining girl!

The Week-end

We’ve been fairly busy lately and it’s been fun.  I love all the cute outfits that Kiera gets to wear…mostly purchased by her wonderful Nana.  These are her 2 recent adorable purchases:

After going to the doctor on Thursday, I went to my parents’ house and they have rainbow sherbet, which is one of my favorite treats!  It’s lime, orange, and raspberry.  I covered it in sprinkles and took a picture of it.

The doctor has not called me (which she always does if the urine test comes back positive for bacteria), so I think it’s safe to say the infection is gone.  Praise the Lord! 

This past week-end, we celebrated my Grandma’s 90th birthday.  Every one of her children (6 in total) gave a short little speech about what they most appreciate about her.  Over and over, it was mentioned how much her prayers have meant.  She is a prayer warrior which is something I want to strive for.  One of my uncles mentioned how it will be interesting to see when we get to heaven how many thousands of little miracles there have been because my Grandma has been praying for us.  So far, Kiera is the only great-grandchild (plus my next little one) and I somehow managed to get this awesome picture of the 2 of them.

That’s definitely one I will cherish for years to come. 

Yesterday, I went to the dentist.  Apparently, one of my molars had decay under it underneath my filling, so I got a new filling put on.  I thought the worst part would be when they cover your mouth with the piece of rubber so that you’re forced to breathe through your nose.  It turns out, the worst part was that I got very sharp pain in my lower back.  I’m pretty sure it was because I was lying on my back on the dentist chair and the baby was putting a lot of pressure on my lower back.  It was horrible!  God wanted me to praise + thank Him during this time, which I REALLY didn’t feel like doing, but I did anyway.  It didn’t take the pain away, but I was reminded of this verse: “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.” – Philippians 4:8   So, that’s what I focused on.  I came home, lay down and prayed, got up and made supper, then lay down again and prayed some more and then the pain subsided!  I am so thankful that God hears + answers our prayers!

Here’s me at 6 months pregnant.  I am in my 3rd and final trimester now!  YAY!!

My “Babies”

So, Jared + I have settled on the boy’s name…I think.  I’ve been back and forth a lot, but I think it’s settled now.  We’re going to go with a different middle name since Jared really doesn’t care whether or not we use his, and then the initials won’t spell anything negative if it’s a boy.

On a totally different note, I have discovered that blueberries sure “clean out” the body.  Kiera ate a whole bunch of them and the next day, she pooped 3 times in 1 evening.  It was gross, but if your child ever has trouble going to the bathroom (or if you yourself do), that may be something you want to try.  Thankfully, Kiera never has trouble with that…this was just extra!

 

I had a doctor’s appt. yesterday and I’m praying they don’t call saying I need to go back on antibiotics.  They were going to do another test to see whether or not the bladder infection is gone.  I found out I have gained 15 pounds so far and everything else is going really well.  The kicks are getting stronger and I think the baby may have gotten hiccups for the first time yesterday!  I’m amazed at this miracle growing inside of me!

The Way to a Woman’s Heart is Through Her Stomach?

Yesterday, Jared + I went out on a little date. We went out for wings since a nearby restaurant has cheap wing night on Wednesdays. It’s a place with both a restaurant + a bar. We were going to eat in the restaurant, but then we found out that the price ($0.35 a wing) only applied in the bar, so we ate in there. Normally I don’t like bars, but this one is much more like a large restaurant, plus everyone there was there for the wings at 7 p.m., so I didn’t mind. The waitress made my day. She came up to our table and asked me, “Are you 18?” I burst out laughing and asked, “Are you serious?” She said yes and then I asked her if she wanted to see some i.d. and she said yes. I couldn’t believe it! I said, “I’m 25,” and then I handed her my driver’s license. She looked at it and said, “Wow, you’re not even lying!” I feel like I’ve aged a bit especially since having Kiera, so that was a compliment! I had 3 different flavors of hot wings and thoroughly enjoyed them! I hadn’t been out for wings since I was pregnant with Kiera, so that was a treat! Normally, I have a big appetite when pregnant, but on Sunday at the lake, it was larger than usual. For supper, I had 2 hamburgers (the patties were small), a hot dog, 2 pieces of watermelon, and 2 pieces of strawberry squares for dessert! I couldn’t believe how much I ate! I love food!

200th Post!

On Sunday, we went to church and then came home and put Kiera down for a nap. She refused to nap for almost an hour, so then we packed her up and we drove to the lake where some of Jared’s relatives were camping for the week. Kiera fell asleep 10 minutes before we got there, so that was her nap for the day! We had a good time eating lots of food (your jaw would probably drop if I told you how much I ate for supper) and visiting with his family who we hadn’t seen since Easter. We got home around 10:00 and then Kiera went straight to bed and I had to wake her up at noon yesterday!

Yesterday was my appt. with the naturopath doctor. It went very well. They took a urine sample from me and they didn’t test the culture, which is a much more thorough test, but they did a dipstick test. He said that all of my levels were almost normal, so they’re not sure if I still have the bladder infection. He said that the reason I could still be having all of the same symptoms if the infection is gone is that the lining of my bladder got irritated/slightly damaged from all the antibiotics (he had a fancy term for it) and then I would still have all the same symptoms as an infection. He said he is going to treat both (both are treatable with natural products) and things should be all good in 10 days. I feel very hopeful and I pray that the end is in sight! Now I have about 10 different products that I have to take, since he added 3 or 4 more to what I’m already taking, plus keep drinking cranberry juice. On that note, I gotta go take them all now.

P.S. Sheila: it is completely safe to have freezing done in the mouth during pregnancy. :)

More Appointments

This past Tuesday, Jared had eye surgery which went very well (we think). They froze his eye and cut out the sties that were in there (4 of them) and the whole thing was done in 10 minutes! He had to have a patch on his eye for 24 hours.

















Between the 2 of us (mostly me), we have an appointment every week this month. Next week, I am going to see a naturopath doctor since I STILL have a bladder infection. It's been over 2 months and I've been on 3 rounds of antibiotics, plus I've tried an all-natural product that's supposed to work better than antibiotics and nothing has changed. I'm hoping this natural doctor will have some answers since drugs don't seem to work. I've been very frustrated and it's been a challenge for me to keep focusing on God instead of on my problem. I admit my faith has been very weak at times. It's so hard when I pray and don't get the answer I want right away, especially when it's something that's normally supposed to be very fixable. God obviously has a bigger plan than I'm seeing right now. The following week, I have an appt. with my family doctor and then the week after that I have a dentist appt. Apparently, my tooth is decaying underneath my filling. Isn't a filling supposed to prevent further cavities and decay? So, I think they're going to take that filling off and put a new one on. The other option was to pull the tooth (it's my back molar), but I didn't want that, so they're going to "try" and fix it. Those were their exact words. That doesn't make me feel overly confidant. If you could please keep praying for me, I would really appreciate that!

Our Mini Summer Vacation

Jared is on holidays right now for a week, so since we spent most of our money on finishing our basement this year, we went to the States for 2 nights from Saturday – Monday for our summer vacation.  We went with my parents and got a SWEET deal on the hotel, thanks to my Mom who had a coupon.  The regular price on week-ends is $90 and weekday is $70.  Our coupon was for $70 on the week-end and $55 on the weekday and they graciously applied it to both rooms!  We were there for Independence Day and got to see a great fireworks show!  Kiera loved them and kept saying, “Pretty!  Ya?  Wow!”  So cute!

 

Of course, we did a bit of clothes shopping, too.  I got a black skirt for $12 (it’s one size up from what I usually buy and it has an elastic waist with a tie, so I can wear it while pregnant)

and the purple dress shirt was half off, so it was $3.50!!  The green shirt was $8 since I had a 20% off coupon.

I found a summer dress that I fell in love with, but I didn’t really have the cash for it.  My Mom wanted to buy me a dressy top, but instead she gave me $25 toward the dress and it was on sale for $30 (down from $40).  Thank you Mom!  I took a bit of a risk since it’s not a maternity dress, but I’m counting on losing all of my pregnancy weight again and it’s a size small which is what I usually am.  I will make it work!  The picture doesn’t show it properly, but the polka dots are light blue and white. 

I didn’t have a watch, so I found a cheap pretty one for $12 at Target.  I love that it has sparkly jewels in it!

Kiera wasn’t too sure about the pool at first, but eventually we got her partially in.

Kiera got tired of always being in the stroller while shopping, so Jared let her get out and push the stroller.  That didn’t work for very long. :)

She also wanted to drive the car.

On the way home we saw a rainbow which always reminds me of God’s promise.

Kiera doesn’t really nap in the car unless she’s WAY overtired, so she finally fell asleep 10 minutes before we got home.

It was a great vacation, Kiera slept well in a play pen in a “strange place,” and we got fantastic deals!

If the Shoe Fits

Jared got his final mark this past week and he got an A+ in his final course.  Jared has officially completed his Accounting Certificate with honors with a grade point average of 4.32 which is about 90%!  He worked so hard and it paid off.  I am SO proud of him. :)

 

Last night, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to watch fireworks, due to Kiera needing to go to bed.  Well, it turns out that we could see them clearly from the end of our driveway while Kiera was fast asleep, so that was perfect!  Once they were done, Jared had 7 guys over (and thankfully one of the guys brought his wife) for a fire.  Most of Jared’s friends are single, which is a bit unusual for this area at our age.  Oh well.  Kiera has a cold and I caught it from her yesterday, except mine is WAY worse!  Who gets colds in July?  I’m not impressed and I’m praying I feel better soon.  Thankfully Jared’s holidays start tomorrow, so I will have more help with Kiera!

She wants to be just like her smart daddy! :) I love how long her hair is getting and I think I might cry when someday she’ll need her first haircut.
