Time for another “what’s going on with us” update. With 3 kids, they’re always growing and changing. I’m very proud of Kiera and her printing skills which have been improving, thanks to Preschool and lots of practice at home on her Magna Doodle. She can now print her name all by herself and she can print Mom, too, without any coaching! She tends to just place the letters wherever she wants, so the words she writes don’t always look like real words. That will come with time.
Blake has turned a corner, which I’m very relieved about! He was having problems with hitting other kids. He got kicked out of Sunday School twice because he wouldn’t stop hitting! As a parent, I really struggled with that. 2 years ago, Kiera was on the other side of it where she was getting hit, scratched, etc. from a kid and now I was the one with the bully. Both are not fun. We started to seriously pray about it and prepare him ahead of time before going to church and Sunday School by telling him he needed to be gentle and having him repeat or say yes so we knew he was understanding us. Praise the Lord his hitting phase appears to be over! Now, if he could only catch on to sharing that easily…We also discovered this week that he can count to 10 all by himself!
Haley is 4 months old now and now she wants to be upright and sitting (with help) more often instead of just lying down on the couch. She’s also started to move around a bit while on her back, so her “lying on the couch without being watched” days are coming to an end. She’s not rolling yet, but she has turned onto her side a couple of times from on her back. When she “talks” she’s very loud, so we thought she was our quiet kid, but perhaps not. She often has loooong afternoon naps these days, often 4 or 5 hours, which is what Kiera used to do! It makes things a lot easier for me and I can actually have some free time almost every day! I’ve had to go wake her up at 6:00 p.m. from her nap several times lately so that she goes to bed by 10:00 p.m. Life is good and I look forward to having my sister, brother-in-law and niece come for Christmas next week and then Jared has the week off between Christmas and New Year’s! :)
